Meta increases Quest VR headset prices citing memory chip cost surge

On Thursday, Meta announced that it will be raising the prices of its Quest 3 and Quest 3S virtual reality headsets, starting April 19. This adjustment is largely due to rising memory chip costs affecting the entire consumer electronics sector. Specifically, the prices for the Meta Quest 3S (128GB) and (256GB) will increase by $50, making them $349.99 and $449.99, respectively. The Meta Quest 3 will see a $100 jump, bringing its price to $599.99. According to a Meta blog post, producing high-end VR devices has become significantly more expensive. While refurbished Quest models will also face price changes, accessory prices will stay the same. This move is in line with similar increases from companies like Samsung, Microsoft, and Sony due to the RAM shortage.
