Meta-Arquivo: Artists as Historians of Brazil's Dictatorship
The exhibition 'Meta–Arquivo: 1964–1985 – Listening and Reading Space of Dictatorship Histories' opens at Sesc Belenzinho in São Paulo on January 30, 2020, and will continue until May 30. Curated by Ana Pato, this showcase emphasizes the role of artists in interpreting the narratives of Brazil's dictatorship, which lasted from 1964 to 1985. It features works from nine artists, including Ana Vaz and Paulo Nazareth, who reflect on topics such as the genocide of the Waimiri-Atroari people and the relationship between mining corporations and authoritarian governance. The exhibition is presented in collaboration with Memorial da Resistência.
