Met Museum Opens Staff Art Exhibition to Public for First Time

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has opened its biennial staff art exhibition to the public for the first time. Titled "Art Work: Artists Working at The Met," the show features works in drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and digital media created by Met employees, including security guards, archivists, librarians, volunteers, technicians, designers, educators, and engineers. The exhibition has been organized every two years since 1935, but was previously only accessible to museum staff. This year, it is installed in spaces adjacent to the Ancient Greek sculpture hall and runs until June 19, 2022. The artworks range from figurative to abstract, drawing inspiration from the museum's vast art historical collection. The Met's staff likely found ample inspiration among the museum's galleries.
