Mestre's M9 Museum Opens Emilio Vedova Show, First Contemporary Art Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-27

On May 5, 2023, the M9 Museum in Mestre inaugurated 'Rivoluzione Vedova', its first contemporary art exhibition since opening in 2018. The show runs until November 26, 2023, and uses Emilio Vedova's work to explore 20th-century history. M9, a 100-million-euro project covering 9,000 square meters, was designed by Sauerbruch Hutton and focuses on the 20th century through eight thematic sections. The museum also features temporary exhibitions. Meanwhile, the Centro Culturale Candiani hosts 'La serena inquietudine del territorio' until May 14, 2023, curated by Giovanni Cecchinato, a photographic project started in 2016 exploring Veneto's communities. Mestre's gallery scene includes Michela Rizzo, who opened a new space in Via Torre Belfredo in summer 2022, and Marina Bastianello Gallery, which moved near M9 in 2018. Forte Marghera, a 19th-century fort turned cultural hub managed by Fondazione MUVE, hosts temporary contemporary art projects and will hold Venezia Comics on May 6-7, 2023. The Riviera del Brenta offers boat tours from March to October, connecting Padua to Venice via the Naviglio del Brenta, passing villas like Villa Foscari, Villa Wildmann, Villa Pisani (with Tiepolo fresco), and Villa Valmarana. Dining options include Payer in Spinea, Il Sogno in Mirano, and Le Cementine in Roncade, part of the Alajmo group.
