Meriç Öner Appointed Director of Research and Programmes at SALT Istanbul

Meriç Öner has been named director of research and programmes at SALT Istanbul, stepping into a role previously held by Vasif Kortun, who resigned. Öner, originally trained as an architect, previously served as SALT's associate director of research. Her career includes curating exhibitions at SALT's Galata and Beyoğlu venues from 2012 to 2016, and earlier roles as a curator at Istanbul's Garanti Galeri and as exhibitions organiser for the XII World Congress of Architecture. Kortun's departure followed the closure of SALT's Beyoğlu venue in early 2016, attributed to renovation issues, though he denied claims of political pressure influencing the shutdown.
