Mercosul Biennial and Sequences Festival appoint curators amid global postponements

The 2022 Mercosul Biennial in Porto Alegre, Brazil, will be curated by Marcello Dantas, alongside a team that includes Carollina Lauriano, Tarsila Riso, and the artistic duo Ío, comprising Laura Cattani and Munir Klamt. Dantas has previously organized exhibitions for renowned artists such as Ai Weiwei, Anish Kapoor, and Michelangelo Pistoletto, with Ai Weiwei's 2019 retrospective in Brazil attracting 1.1 million attendees. Established in 1996, the biennial is set to showcase significant works. Meanwhile, the Sequences Festival in Reykjavik, taking place from October 15 to 25, will be curated by Þóranna Dögg Björnsdóttir and Þráinn Hjálmarsson, featuring Elísabet Jökulsdóttir as the honorary artist. The Kathmandu Triennale, co-curated by Cosmin Costinas, Sheelasha Rajbhandari, and Hit Man Gurung, will open on October 27. Additionally, the Gwangju Biennial and Gallery Weekend Beijing are experiencing delays.
