:mentalKLINIK's 'Paradise on Sale' at Dirimart Dolapdere
Dirimart presents 'Paradise on Sale', the first solo exhibition of artist duo :mentalKLINIK at its Dolapdere space. The show transforms the gallery into an immersive installation critiquing capitalistic leisure and the cancellation of utopia in the 21st century. Featuring shifting scents, distorting mirrors, shiny poppers, floating screens, and directed sounds, the environment functions as a confessional for confronting hypocrisy. Key works include 'Frenemy', a meta-human genderless character embodying emptiness and inadequacy; a large-scale champagne muselet on a mirrored confetti floor; 'Double-Deal', reflective sculptural panes that reproduce reality; and 'Cute Spy', a surveillance camera shaped like a pet owl that interacts with viewers. Custom scents 'Happily Dizzy' and 'Awfully Witty' by :mentalKLINIK, along with the sound installation 'Lunatic Poems', aim to lodge the experience in viewers' subconscious. The exhibition does not promise a new paradise but invites visitors to celebrate the end of utopia as accomplices.
