Mennour takes on Manoucher Yektai Estate

institutional · 2026-06-02

Mennour now represents the Estate of Manoucher Yektai (1921–2019), in partnership with Karma. Born in Tehran in 1921, Yektai was a painter and poet who fused Persian heritage with postwar American modernism. He left Iran in the mid-1940s, studied under Amédée Ozenfant and at the Art Students League in New York, then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Returning to New York in 1947, he joined the Abstract Expressionist milieu. Milton Avery connected him to Grace Borgenicht Gallery, where he had solo shows in the early 1950s. Leo Castelli introduced him to the Eighth Street Club.
