Mendes Wood DM Expands with Paris Gallery, International Exhibitions, and Upstate New York Residency

Mendes Wood DM opened a fourth official gallery space in Paris's Marais district in October with a group exhibition blending Brazilian and international artists. The gallery's founders—Felipe Dmab, Pedro Mendes, and Matthew Wood—operate beyond their São Paulo warehouse, Brussels location (opened 2017), and New York TriBeCa gallery. During summer, they organized a group show at a seventeenth-century church in Retranchement, a Dutch coastal village, featuring works on paper by artists like Michael Dean and Mariana Castillo Deball. A solo exhibition by painter Marina Perez Simão was the fourth presentation at Villa Era, a nineteenth-century Italian estate. The gallery has also renovated a property in Upstate New York for artist residencies, beginning with Paulo Nazareth and Paulo Monteiro. Collectors increasingly seek both art and a bohemian lifestyle, which the gallery aims to satisfy through its diverse programming and unconventional venues.
