MENART Fair Paris 2023 Brings MENA Art to Palais d'Iéna
The fourth edition of MENART Paris, evolved from the Beirut Art Fair, is held at the Palais d'Iéna, a masterpiece by architect Auguste Perret. The fair specializes in artists from the Levant, the Gulf, and North Africa, many with limited European presence. Highlights include a metal structure by Iranian artists Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh, and Hesam Rahmanian resembling a paralyzed Alexander Calder mobile; photorealistic still lifes by Palestinian painter Reem R at UAE's Hunna Art; paintings by Aliyah Alawaleh drawing on Cubism and German Expressionism; Layla Dagher's acrylic painting "Beside My Cat" (2023) at Beirut's Art on 56th; Yousef Ahmad's collage pieces at Doha's Al-Markhiya; and Fatma Al-Ali's mini-show at NIKA Project Space on colonial-era agricultural documentation.
