Melting Ice Group Exhibition at Balazsi Gallery, Palma de Mallorca

Balazsi Gallery in Palma de Mallorca presents 'Melting Ice,' a group exhibition curated around themes of temporality, fragility, and transformation. The show features works by Natalia Domínguez, Vera Mota, Claudia Pastomás, Álvaro Porras, Sasha Saari, and Thom Trojanowski. Domínguez's cloud-inspired parachute series and photographs from 'Cloud Observation Guide' (2022) explore porous environmental relationships. Mota's 'Performing Matters' (2024) involves silicone slowly descending from a metal bar, creating tension between control and surrender. Porras's three-act action 'Opera' (2025) echoes Bas Jan Ader and Giovanni Anselmo, while his paintings question landscape limits. Saari's watercolours and collages present dissolving blue landscapes. Trojanowski's 'Critical Moment' (2025) depicts a broken tree trunk with a butterfly. Pastomás's site-specific installation engages with a column, softening its edges. The exhibition references Allan Kaprow's 1967 happening 'Fluids,' where ice structures were built to melt.
