Melik Ohanian's 'Stuttering' at CRAC Sète

exhibition · 2026-04-24

From July 4 to September 21, 2014, the Centre Régional d'Art Contemporain Languedoc-Roussillon in Sète showcases 'Stuttering,' a solo exhibition by Melik Ohanian. This exhibition includes both established works and nineteen new creations, encapsulating Ohanian's artistic journey since the 1990s. It challenges the coherence of time and space by intertwining personal narratives with collective memories. Notable pieces comprise 'Return From Memory,' a collection of photographs, and the 'Word(s)' series featuring hybrid terminology. Ohanian's exploration of different eras is evident in works like 'Girls of Chilwell Suspended Acting' and 'Modelling Poetry.' He also archives and obliterates copies of Janine Altounian's book, displaying the remnants alongside his father's photographs. The 'Datcha Project' captures shared experiences in an Armenian village.
