Melbourne Design Week exhibition asks: what would you put in a library of things?

exhibition · 2026-05-11

From May 13 to 17, SO:ME Space at South Melbourne Market will host an interactive exhibition as part of Melbourne Design Week. This event encourages attendees to both donate items they would be willing to share and request items they would like to borrow, thereby illustrating the community's needs visually. Curated by Lauren Brumley and Corey Ferguson, the initiative examines the idea of a 'library of things,' emphasizing a community-driven approach to lending practical tools, equipment, and skills rather than traditional books. The exhibition promotes sustainability, sharing, and connection, with displayed items not available for borrowing. Melbourne Design Week is organized by the Victorian Government via Creative Victoria and executed by the National Gallery of Victoria, in collaboration with South Melbourne Market.
