Megx installs 'Rinascita' in Abruzzo National Park for ARTEPARCO 2024

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The seventh edition of ARTEPARCO, a permanent outdoor sculpture trail in Italy's Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, features a new work by megx (Margherita Burcini) titled 'Rinascita.' The artist carved a humanoid figure emerging from a dead tree, using soil from the park to create a pigment she calls 'terra d'Abruzzo' for preliminary sketches. Unlike her previous biodegradable works, this piece directly engages with a dead tree, symbolizing life's cyclical nature. The park, established by royal decree in 1923, is Europe's first national park. ARTEPARCO was founded in 2018 by entrepreneur Paride Vitale, who annually invites an artist to create a permanent installation along trails C1 and C2. Previous contributors include Marcantonio (2018, 'Animale Vegetale'), Matteo Fato (2019), Alessandro Pavone (2020), Sissi (2021, 'Radicorno'), Valerio Berruti (2022), and the all-female collective Accademia di Aracne (2023, 'Totem'). The project collaborates with the park authority to ensure artworks harmonize with nature, weathering and wildlife. Megx's installation is located near Pescasseroli.
