Megayacht Fleet at Venice Biennale Revealed
During the opening of the 61st Venice Biennale, a fleet of megayacht moored along the Riva degli Schiavoni and the Riva dei Sette Martiri drew attention. ARTnews reporter Harrison Jacobs identified the owners through public records. The 52-meter Private GG (2022), built by CRN, belongs to Giancarlo Giammetti, co-founder of Valentino, who sold a Basquiat for $93 million in 2021. The 58-meter Kathryn (2023), built by Codecasa, is owned by private equity billionaire Orlando Bravo (Thoma Bravo), a donor of $100 million to Puerto Rico and an ARTnews Top 200 Collector. The 54-meter Maraya (2007), also by CRN, belongs to Jordanian billionaire Mohammed Abu-Ghazaleh, who built his fortune in fruit imports and acquired Fresh Del Monte. He and his wife Mahera fund the MMAG Foundation supporting Jordanian artists. The 46-meter OM (2017), with blue and white hull by Rossinavi, is likely owned by Erich Obermaier of OM Gruppe. The 43-meter Sofia 3 (2008), recently refitted for $14.7 million, is for sale with unknown owner.
