Mediterranea 18 Biennial of Young Artists Opens in Tirana
From May 4 to 9, 2017, Tirana will host Mediterranea 18, the Biennial of Young Artists of the Mediterranean (BJCEM), centered around the theme "HISTORY + CONFLICT + DREAM + FAILURE = HOME." The event showcases 230 artists, aged 20 to 35, representing 22 nations, such as Albania, Austria, and Egypt, with selections made by curators and partner countries. It features works from established artists like Ettore Favini and Adrian Paci, alongside emerging talents like Fatlum Doci and Vangjush Vellahu from Albania, and Vasilis Alexandrou from Greece. Artistic director Driant Zeneli seeks to redefine the concept of home. Key locations include the former Yugoslav Embassy and Enver Hoxha's residence, with over 300 artists arriving by ship from Bari to Tirana.
