Medio Estudio's Casa Río in Madrid Eliminates Corridors to Open Up to the Outdoors
The architecture firm Medio Estudio, located in Madrid, has transformed a 55-square-meter apartment close to Madrid Río park, referred to as Casa Río. The renovation eliminates the L-shaped corridor, resulting in an open living space that combines the living room, dining area, and kitchen. A sizable sliding glass window now links this space to a newly created terrace, which was formerly designated for laundry and bike storage. The kitchen showcases a walnut base cabinet, complemented by concealed storage for better organization. In the bathroom, a semi-open sink area features cobalt blue tiles, while a private section is divided by a ceramic lattice crafted by ceramist Sandra Marco. Structural elements are painted a rich maroon, enhancing the sense of space through thoughtful redistribution. Photography by Hiperfocal.
