Media Majlis Museum Explores Arabic Language's Past, Present, and Future
Northwestern University in Qatar's Media Majlis Museum has launched its eighth mixed-media exhibition titled "The limits of my language are the limits of my world," curated by alumna Amal Zeyad Ali. This exhibition, which runs until December 5, 2024, delves into the historical significance and modern-day challenges of the Arabic language through the lenses of art and technology. It tackles issues of misrepresentation in a world dominated by English, organized around four key themes: stereotypes, Arabic's role in politics and science, media portrayal, and future sustainability. Notable contributions include works by Hala Amer, Latifa Al Ali, and others. A public program in collaboration with afikra is set for October 26, 2024. Dean Marwan M. Kraidy and director Alfredo Cramerotti emphasized its importance.
