Media Art Festival Returns to Rome with Experimental Works and Student Collaborations
The second edition of the Media Art Festival is underway in Rome, running until April 29. Organized by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and directed by Valentino Catricalà, the festival positions itself as a laboratory for future creativity, involving artists, critics, curators, and students from academies and high schools who collaborated on new works. The program includes an exhibition, meetings, debates, workshops, and guided tours. On April 29, two prizes will be awarded: one for the best exhibited work and another for the best project from school workshops. The exhibition at Spazio D of the Maxxi features international artists like Sigalit Landau and Joseph Delappe, alongside emerging Italian artists Donato Piccolo, Simone Pappalardo, and Chiara Passa. Installations by schools were created under the guidance of artists such as Maria Grazia Pontorno, Francesco Bianco, and AOS (Art is Open Source). The works span video, sculpture, and interactive installations, united by an experimental approach exploring the boundaries of creativity. Ecological themes recur, particularly investigations into carbon footprint.
