Medellín's Playground Network: Weaving Homes / Let's Play in the Park
Curated by Valentina Díaz, the Red de Parques Infantiles de Medellín is an architectural initiative launched by the Mayor's Office of Medellín to tackle the shortage of recreational areas in outlying neighborhoods. Spanning 48 m², this project is scheduled for completion in 2026 and is captured through the lens of photographer Israel Restrepo Naranjo. The effort, supported by Mayor Federico Gutiérrez Zuluaga and First Lady Margarita Gómez Marín, aims to alleviate issues such as urban heat, pollution, slope instability, and flooding. The Secretariat of Physical Infrastructure is involved, with contributions from Jaime Naranjo, Claudia Velásquez, Nancy Carillo, among others. Construction is overseen by Dinamic Proyectos e Ingeniería and OYP Ingeniería y Consultoría, under the direction of Alejandro Restrepo Montoya, highlighting the significance of play in community engagement.
