McMullen Museum to Show Major Belgian Symbolist Collection

Hey, so from September 8 to December 6, the McMullen Museum of Art at Boston College is hosting this cool exhibition called "Shadows and Light: Symbolist Art in Belgium." It features the biggest private collection of Belgian symbolist art in North America, all put together by Charles Hack, who's a well-known art collector and New York real estate guy over the last 40 years. He even donated 36 important Belgian landscapes to the museum in 2024, which really boosts its reputation for holding amazing nineteenth-century art. Hack worked closely with Jeffery Howe, a retired art history professor at BC, to pick out the pieces for this show that really highlight the magic of Belgian symbolist art.
