McLaren Unveils Track-Only MCL-HY GTR Hypercar with 720 HP

other · 2026-05-04

McLaren has revealed the MCL-HY GTR, a customer version of its upcoming Le Mans racer, the MCL-HY. The GTR is more powerful than the race car, generating 720 hp from a non-hybrid V-6, and lighter than Le Mans' minimum weight limit of 2,271 pounds. It will be offered exclusively to VIP clients through McLaren's Project: Endurance program, with testing starting this month and deliveries before the end of 2027. The race car, driven by Mikkel Jensen, Gregoire Saucy, and Richard Verschoor, features a hybrid-assisted 2.9-liter V-6 producing 697 hp and a Papaya livery inspired by the McLaren M6A prototype. McLaren Racing will rejoin the top class of the FIA World Endurance Championship next year.
