MCH Group commits ongoing support to India Art Fair during divestment search

festival-fair · 2026-04-20

MCH Group, owner of the Art Basel franchise, has pledged continued backing for India Art Fair while seeking a buyer for its majority stake. Managing director Frank Lasry of MCH Design & Regional Art Fairs emphasized the company's indefinite commitment until an appropriate purchaser is identified. This divestment forms part of a broader restructuring process where MCH is discontinuing support for regional art fairs, having already sold its stake in Art Düsseldorf and withdrawn from the Art SG partnership in Singapore. The modern and contemporary art fair opens on 31 January in New Delhi. Lasry clarified that the decision reflects strategic investment realignment rather than any assessment of India Art Fair's success. While this reassurance alleviates immediate concerns about the fair's future, questions remain about potential impacts on the local market.
