MCH Group Acquires 25.1% Stake in New Art Düsseldorf Fair
MCH Group, owner of Art Basel, has purchased a 25.1 percent stake in art.fair International GmbH, the organizer of the new ART DÜSSELDORF fair. The remaining shares stay with current owners Andreas Lohaus and Walter Gehlen. This marks MCH's second regional fair investment after the India Art Fair in autumn 2016. ART DÜSSELDORF will debut from 16 to 19 November 2017. Marco Fazzone, MCH's Managing Director of Design & Regional Art Fairs, stated the move advances their strategy to expand a global portfolio of regional fairs in key art locations. MCH previously acquired London's ART 16 before suspending it. The group holds an option to obtain majority control of ART DÜSSELDORF. This acquisition strengthens MCH's position in the art market through regional fair investments.
