Mazzoleni Gallery Expands Internationally with Art Basel Debut

institutional · 2026-05-05

Mazzoleni, the Italian gallery with locations in Turin and London, has been admitted to Art Basel for the first time, marking a key milestone in its international expansion. The gallery presented a curatorial focus on Piero Manzoni's "Achromes: Linee infinta" at its stand. The gallery also continues to participate in Art Basel Miami, Art Basel Hong Kong, The Armory Show, TEFAF, and The Salon Art+Design in New York, as well as Frieze Masters in London and FIAC in Paris. Mazzoleni is actively promoting Analytical Painting, a movement from the 1970s, through exhibitions and fair presentations, particularly featuring artists Gianfranco Zappettini, Paolo Cotani, and Carmengloria Morales. A recent exhibition "Pittura Analitica ieri e oggi" in London and Turin, curated by Alberto Fiz, was well received and included collaboration with the Estorick Collection. The gallery is producing video interviews to document the movement. Davide Mazzoleni, who joined the gallery in the late 1990s, and his brother Luigi, who leads the London branch, emphasize the gallery's commitment to postwar Italian art and the legacy of masters like Fontana, Burri, and Manzoni. The London space serves as an international showcase for Italian art, hosting exhibitions on Burri, Manzoni, Bonalumi, Fontana/Melotti, and a collaborative show with Joseph Kosuth.
