MAZE Debuts Art Gastronomy in Milan with Exclusive Chef-Artist Dinners
MAZE, the art fair label founded by Thomas Hug, has launched Art Gastronomy, a format merging contemporary art with haute cuisine through exclusive invitation-only dinners in Milan. Running until April 12, 2025, the project involves top Italian galleries and Michelin-starred chefs. During Art Week, dinners were held at venues like Caruso Nuovo (with chef Gennarino Esposito and gallery MASSIMODECARLO), Anima (chef Michele Cobuzzi with artist Joan Jonas and gallery Raffaella Cortese), and Yapa Restaurant (with works by Nanda Vigo from Erastudio Gallery). For Design Week, a single location, Spazio Pio XI, hosts international artists curated with JRE (Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe), including Thomas Ruff (Lia Rumma) with chef Katrin Steindl, Robert Mapplethorpe (Franco Noero) with chef Tomas Kavcic, and Salvatore Astore (Galleria Mazzoleni) with chef Stefano di Gennaro. The series concludes on April 12 with Soirée at Casa Flash Art, featuring a performance by chef Alain Passard. Separately, MAZE will lead Design Basel on June 16-17 at Offene Kirche Elisabethen, a new design fair replacing the canceled Design/ Basel, with galleries like Thomas Fritsch – Artrium, Galerie Gastou, Kreo, and Thomsen Gallery.
