Maya Lin's 'Floating Landscape' to Debut at UT Austin in 2027
Maya Lin has been selected by the University of Texas at Austin's Landmarks public art initiative to create her inaugural public artwork in Texas, named *Floating Landscape*. This installation will be situated in the newly constructed Autry C. Stephens Engineering Discovery Building, which was designed by CO Architects. The project was announced in August 2026, with its unveiling scheduled for April 9, 2027, during a dialogue between Lin and Dr. Jana La Brasca. The 3,600-square-foot concrete installation will reflect the natural landscape and feature LED lighting that represents constellations from September 15, 1883. Collaborating with the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and Lionheart Places, the artwork promotes interaction with local flora, highlighting themes of ecological harmony and community involvement.
