Maya Beauty Exhibition Opens in Verona with Over 250 Artifacts
The exhibition titled 'Maya. Il linguaggio della bellezza' is currently being held at Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona, featuring more than 250 artifacts dating from 2000 BC to 1542 AD. Organized by the Mexican government, the Ministry of Culture, and the Instituto Nacional de Antropología y Historia, in partnership with Arthemisia Group and Kornice, it is supported by the Municipality of Verona and AMO. The display includes significant pieces from prominent Mexican museums, categorized into four themes: 'The Body as Canvas,' 'The Dressed Body,' 'The Animal Counterpart,' and 'The Bodies of Divinity.' Noteworthy items include jade masks, jewelry, stelae, and sculptures, showcasing the evolution of beauty and ugliness in the Maya civilization across regions such as Chiapas, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Belize, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
