MAXXI Rome Exhibition Explores Dialogue Between Architects and Artists

At Rome's MAXXI museum, the exhibition 'Architetture a regola d'arte' traces the creative exchange between Italian architects and artists in the mid-20th century. Curated by Luca Galofaro, the show occupies galleries 2 and 4 on the first floor of Zaha Hadid's building. It features over 400 works, including models, drawings, photographs, and correspondence from the MAXXI Architecture Collection. The display is organized into four monographic focuses on the firms BBPR, Costantino Dardi, Vincenzo Monaco and Amedeo Luccichenti, and Luigi Moretti. Highlights include BBPR's restoration of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, where Michelangelo's Pietà Rondanini was housed; Dardi's exhibition designs for Achille Bonito Oliva's 'Avanguardia Transavanguardia' and the Palazzo delle Esposizioni; Monaco and Luccichenti's residential projects incorporating artists like Giuseppe Capogrossi and Pietro Consagra; and Moretti's role as a collector and publisher of the magazine 'Spazio'. The exhibition runs concurrently with 'Technoscape', curated by Pippo Ciorra and Mariastella Casciato, which explores architecture and engineering collaborations from the post-war period to today, closing April 10. A separate focus on engineer Sergio Musmeci is also included.
