MAXXI and Rai 5 Launch Masterclass Series with Italian Art Icons

A new television series titled "Essere MAXXI" premieres on Rai 5 on September 14, 2022, at 21:15. Conceived by Ernesto Assante, the series is a co-production between Fremantle and MAXXI, produced by Scarlett and directed by Alessandro Galluzzi. It features masterclasses recorded within the MAXXI museum in Rome, designed by Zaha Hadid. Five masters of Italian arts and culture participate: photographer Letizia Battaglia, architect Mario Cucinella, designer Piero Lissoni, composer Nicola Piovani, and artist Michelangelo Pistoletto. The episodes air weekly: Battaglia on September 14, Lissoni on September 21, Piovani on September 28, Cucinella on October 5, and Pistoletto on October 12. Battaglia, who recently passed away, discusses her career as Italy's first female photojournalist, known for her mafia documentation. The series reveals the creative processes and professional secrets of each master.
