MAXXI and Bulgari Launch New Prize for Young Artists

award · 2026-05-04

In Rome, the MAXXI museum has teamed up with Bulgari to introduce the Maxxi Bulgari Prize for emerging artists, a successor to the Premio Maxxi that ran from 2000 to 2016. This award is available to both Italian and international artists who have developed projects in Italy over the past two years. A selection committee, which includes Edoardo Bonaspetti and Roberta Tenconi, has chosen the participants. An international jury, comprising Hou Hanru and Hans Ulrich Obrist, will determine three finalists, to be revealed on October 3, 2017, at the Bulgari Hotel in London during the Frieze Art Fair. The finalists' works will be displayed at MAXXI in May 2018, with the winner announced in October 2018. The original Premio Maxxi featured 39 artists, including Mario Airò and Vanessa Beecroft.
