Maximal Miniatures: Iranian Contemporary Art at MEI Gallery
There's an upcoming exhibition called Maximal Miniatures: Contemporary Art from Iran, and it’s being organized by the Middle East Institute's Arts and Culture Center. It will run from February 3 to May 23, 2025, at the MEI Art Gallery. Donna Honarpisheh, who is the Associate Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami, is curating it. The show features the work of 13 Iranian artists, including Reza Derakshani and Parinaz Eleish, who tackle themes like identity, gender, and mythology, all through a fresh take on traditional Persian miniature painting. Honarpisheh highlights how this exhibition sheds light on the changing narrative of Persian miniature art and contemporary Iranian culture.
