Max Rohr's Cinematic Paintings at Galleria Doris Ghetta

Max Rohr, a Bolzano-born artist, presents his solo exhibition 'Somewhere, Sometime' at Galleria Doris Ghetta in Ortisei, Val Gardena, from April 5 to June 22, 2025. The show features his distinctive figurative paintings that blend cinematic influences with a retro, rockabilly aesthetic. Rohr's works depict strangely coiffed youths in suburban noir scenarios, with enigmatic titles like 'Giunto all’auto ebbi un istante di chiarezza' that evoke American short stories or melancholic road songs. The exhibition includes a catalog with texts by Ivan Quaroni and an interview with the artist by Sergio Tossi, who first introduced Rohr's work two decades ago. Rohr's style, noted for its strong cinematic influence, has evolved from his early days when gallerist Sergio Tossi supported him as part of the 'Scuola di Palermo' circle. The exhibition runs until June 22, 2025.
