Max Petrone's illy Art Collection: Coffee Drawings at Triennale

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Artist Max Petrone has created the new illy Art Collection titled Coffee Drawings, transforming coffee stains into artworks. During Milan Design Week, from April 17 to 22, a live performance at the Triennale's bistrot will feature Petrone creating a multi-stage work inspired by coffee. Visitors can also contribute their own drawings on paper, engaging in a dialogue with the artist. The collection decorates illy's iconic cup designed by Matteo Thun in 1991, presenting six stories of adventurous research, chance encounters, and deep gazes, with imagery ranging from lunar landscapes to fantastical creatures and turbulent waves, all in the brown hues of coffee.
