Max Mara Prize Shortlist Announced, Beatriz González Installation Protected, François Pinault Museum Opening Date Set
The eighth Max Mara Art Prize for Women has revealed its shortlist, featuring five artists: Allison Katz, Katie Schwab, Tai Shani, Emma Talbot, and Hannah Tuulikki. The announcement took place at Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia, where the work of 2018 laureate Helen Cammock is currently exhibited. This prize is backed by The Whitechapel Gallery, Collezione Maramotti, and Max Mara. In Bogotá, Beatriz González's 2009 piece Auras Anónimas has been recognized as a national cultural asset. François Pinault's new museum in Paris, with a budget of $170 million and designed by Tadao Ando, is set to open in June 2020. The second Jeju Biennale, directed by Kim Inseon, will commence in May 2020. The art world mourns the loss of avant-garde poet John Giorno at 82 and Filipino artist Carlos Celdran.
