Max Hollein Appointed Director of Metropolitan Museum of Art
Max Hollein has been appointed as the new director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, concluding a year-long search process. This decision follows the resignation of Thomas P. Campbell in February 2017, who had served for eight years. hollein was chosen from a competitive pool of over 100 applicants. Board member Candace Beinecke commended his impressive leadership experience. Since 2016, he has led the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and has held key roles in several German art institutions. Hollein will now manage 31 departments, including 17 curatorial and five conservation divisions, starting this summer.
