Max Freund and Paul Riedmüller's 'Guided Hands' at Horizont Gallery

Horizont Gallery in Budapest presents 'Guided Hands,' the first joint exhibition by Austrian painters Max Freund and Paul Riedmüller, on view until a yet-unspecified date. The show explores the tension between analog and digital image-making, featuring works that range from 30 × 20 cm to 160 × 120 cm. Riedmüller's pristine, rendered digital spaces contrast with Freund's gestural, organic fields. Both artists engage horror vacui through saturated compositions. The exhibition title references traditional hand gestures and questions of authorship in the digital age. Canvases are offset from walls with elastic cords, creating a floating, networked installation. Freund (b. 1992, Vienna) has exhibited at König Galerie Munich (2025) and Ludwig Museum Budapest (2023). Riedmüller (b. 1989, Graz) has shown at The Hole Los Angeles (2024) and is represented by Horizont Gallery, where his solo show 'Blender' took place in 2024. Both are members of the SOYBOT collective.
