Max Cardelli's 'Innermost' Photography Series at Fabbrica Eos Gallery

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Fabbrica Eos Gallery in Milan presents 'Innermost', a solo exhibition by Max Cardelli, curated by Alberto Mattia Martini, from May 6 to June 13, 2026. The series, conceived in 2023 and previewed at MIA Photo Fair Milan in March 2026, features 18 images taken during a sea voyage. Cardelli transforms the porthole from a mere filter into the very condition of vision, confronting the physical limit of glass rather than offering an open view of infinity. The horizon becomes an invitation to reflection, emphasizing that every vision is situated, filtered, and incomplete. The works shift focus from landscape description to photography as a mental and material device. Technically, the platinum-palladium prints on Japanese Mitsumata 27 g/m² paper, assembled with chine-collé on Arches Platine paper, create a tactile, fragile presence. Cardelli intercepts rather than constructs images, aligning with contemporary conceptual photography that questions the medium's neutrality. The title 'Innermost' suggests a process of reaching the deepest self through engagement with the distant. A limited-edition artist book, numbered and signed, on Japanese paper in Leporello format accompanies the series. The opening is on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 6:30 PM. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 AM–1:00 PM and 4:00 PM–6:30 PM.
