Mauro Staccioli's Intimate Sculpture at A arte Invernizzi, Milan
A arte Invernizzi in Milan presents 'Scultura come pensiero che trasforma', a solo exhibition of Mauro Staccioli (1937–2018) curated by Francesca Pola, ten years after his last show at the same gallery. The exhibition reveals a more intimate and rhythmic side of the artist, known internationally for his large outdoor 'sculture intervento' that interact with natural elements. A 1976 steel cusp protruding from a concrete tile greets visitors, sharpening the gaze. Upstairs, three series of corten works—miniature versions of his public sculptures—repeat at regular intervals, creating a modular, metric punctuation of space with sharp half-moons and claw-like commas. Adjacent rooms display metal models and drawings, including the 'Forme perdute' cycle (2012) and the famous 'Tondi'. In the basement, six sculptures from the 1970s 'Sbarra e cemento' series feature thin metal bars rising from concrete plinths, interacting with the gallery's columns to modulate visitor movement and imbue the space with spiritual verticality.
