Mauro Staccioli's Curved Triangle Finds Permanent Home at Fondation CAB
Founded in 2012 by Hubert Bonnet in Brussels, the Fondation CAB aims to advance minimalist and conceptual art. Recently, it has acquired Mauro Staccioli's "Triangolo dai lati curvi" (2006) for its sculpture garden located in Saint-Paul de Vence, France. This purchase is part of the "Mauro Staccioli. Overcoming Barriers" initiative, curated by the Archivio Mauro Staccioli with backing from Italian Council 2025. The corten steel piece will be publicly unveiled on March 14, 2026, at the park's summit. Following this, a retrospective exhibition titled "Mauro Staccioli. Overcoming Barriers," curated by Roberto Lacarbonara, will take place from June 9 to July 10, 2027, at the Fondation's Brussels headquarters. Staccioli (Volterra, 1937 – Milan, 2018) explored the interaction between art and its environment, aiming to reinterpret context and challenge traditional monumentalism. Initially displayed at Villa d'Este in 2006, the sculpture featured a raised semicircular base, giving the illusion of resting on the villa's wall. The Fondation CAB established its presence on the French Riviera in 2021, occupying a redesigned 1950s structure by architect Charles Zama, which includes a Mediterranean garden showcasing works by various artists, including Richard Long and Bernar Venet.
