Mauro Galligani retrospective at MAGA Gallarate

A retrospective of photographer Mauro Galligani (born 1940, Siena) is on view at MAGA in Gallarate, curated by Claudio Argentiero. The exhibition is organized into seven thematic sections including 'Sopravvivere al terremoto', 'Gente del Delta', and 'Immagini e immaginari: anni ’60 e ’70'. Galligani worked for Il Giorno from 1964 and Epoca from 1975 to 1997, documenting Italian news. Each section includes quotes from figures like Moravia and Mura. A video interview features Galligani discussing his view of photography as reflection rather than recreation. He recounts being commissioned by the Quirinale to make the official portrait of President Cossiga, for which he asked to follow the new president during his first days in office, revealing a human side.
