Mauro Felicori's 20 innovations at the Reggia di Caserta

institutional · 2026-05-04

In 2015, Mauro Felicori, a native of Bologna born in 1952, was appointed as the director of the Reggia di Caserta following a selection process led by Minister Dario Franceschini. By 2019, he had successfully attracted nearly one million visitors. However, in August 2018, Felicori announced his decision to leave early, a year prior to the conclusion of his contract, with Minister Alberto Bonisoli enforcing legal protocols. His notable accomplishments encompassed securing €53 million for restoration, reviving the Terrae Motus collection, inaugurating the Teatro di Corte in February 2017, and enhancing visitor services with new uniforms, free Wi-Fi, and a digital archive of 300,000 images. He shared his farewell on Facebook on October 31, 2018.
