Maurizio Mochetti's Naples Exhibition Explores Time, Flight, and Camouflage
Maurizio Mochetti (Rome, 1940) presents a solo exhibition at Casamadre Arte Contemporanea in Naples, featuring works from 1974 to 2019 that investigate flight, time, space, motion, and light. The show opens with 'Freccia nera' (1974), a suspended arrow that rotates 360 degrees, capturing shifting trajectories based on air currents. Other key pieces include 'Amore e Psiche. Processo di paragone' (1974), two identical objects placed diagonally; 'Missione V1 ‒ Balléin' (2013); a scale model of the Bachem Natter BA 349 B-1944 rocket plane (1977) with opaque points and a mirror replacing armament; and a series of camouflage works on wood panels from 1979, 1987, and 2019 that explore perceptual disappearance. In the second room, 'È tutta un’altra storia' (2014) features 28 4th-century BC Sunni vases on a quadrangular base, with a laser point opening from one vase to intersect the space and viewer, collapsing past and present. The exhibition also includes 'Bang – da una dimensione all’altra' (2016), the rear portion of a gray Natter, whose front section was previously installed at MAAB Gallery in Milan until November 2021, creating a spatiotemporal displacement effect. Curated by Antonello Tolve, the show emphasizes Mochetti's lifelong pursuit of perfection through thought and materiality.
