Maurizio Cattelan's silent party at Grand Hotel et de Milan

On November 22, 2018, Maurizio Cattelan organized 'Silence! The Party' at the Grand Hotel et de Milan, a silent gathering in partnership with Dom Pérignon. The first floor was filled with 21 rooms where guests interacted using notebooks from Pineider. Cattelan's surreal decor included canopy beds adorned with plush toys and balloons, bathtubs brimming with vegetables and champagne, wardrobes doubling as deli counters, and sushi crafted in historic bathrooms. Among the performers were an origamist, a caricaturist, a graphologist, an improvisational poet, a silhouettist, a fortune teller, and astrologer Antonio Capitani. Noteworthy attendees comprised Pierpaolo Ferrari, Paola Manfrin, and many others. The only sound throughout the event was the clinking of champagne glasses. Previously, Cattelan had curated 'The Artist is Present' in Shanghai with Gucci, showcasing themes of imitation and originality, including a replica of the Sistine Chapel.
