Maurizio Cattelan's 'Beware of Yourself' Collects Four Decades of Work

Maurizio Cattelan has released 'Beware of Yourself,' a 400-page compendium of his career published by Marsilio Arte and Pirelli HangarBicocca in collaboration with the Maurizio Cattelan’s Archive. The book, curated by Roberta Tenconi, Tatiana Palenzona, and Vicente Todolì, spans over 35 years of interviews—more than 300—reassembled into a non-linear narrative. It includes works from the 1980s to recent productions, personal items like a First Communion photo, and nine handwritten interventions. The volume features a definitive chronology of Cattelan's life and career, organizing key dates for the first time. Cattelan describes the book as 'without answers' and notes that interviews are 'where one lies,' countering the notion that he avoids them. The project took three to four years of research.
