Maurizio Cattelan Returns to Arte Fiera 2024 with Mutina's 'BECAUSE' Project
Mutina, the ceramic brand known for collaborations with top Italian and international designers, will present a special exhibition project at Arte Fiera 2024 in Bologna, centered on artist Maurizio Cattelan. The project, titled 'BECAUSE', is curated by Sarah Cosulich, curator of Mutina for Art, the brand's non-profit contemporary art initiative launched in 2017. The display will feature Mutina's Fringe ceramic collection designed by Michael Anastassiades. Cattelan returns to Arte Fiera over thirty years after his 1991 appearance as an 'infiltrator', when he set up an unauthorized booth shaped like a football field. 'BECAUSE' promises to explore themes of rebellion, fragility, and contradiction, leaving the audience without certainties. The project will be unveiled at Arte Fiera, running from February 2 to 4, 2024, with a preview on February 1. Mutina has renewed its partnership with the fair for four editions, previously collaborating with Mousse in 2023 on a ceramic stand dedicated to books and publishing. The 2024 edition marks the 50th anniversary of Arte Fiera, Italy's longest-running art fair, founded in 1974.
