Mattia Pajè's 'Fuori Terra' Explores Digital Truths at Alchemilla Bologna
Mattia Pajè (Melzo, 1991) presents 'Fuori Terra' at Alchemilla in Bologna, a sculptural installation questioning truth in the digital age. The exhibition, located at via Santo Stefano 43, features multiple sculptural groups arranged as dioramas depicting non-existent but possible worlds. Raw clay islands host featureless humanoid figures alongside found objects from television, theater, esotericism, pseudoscience, and New Age philosophies. Elements include the pink dog One from TV, mirrors, cardboard fires, ladders, stage curtains, and an 'orgone accumulator'—a phone-booth-like device claiming to channel primordial cosmic energy. Also present are numerical healing sequences, a dowsing rod, starfish, and natural elements. The work originated from drawings Pajè made during pandemic isolation, when conflicting truths about the virus circulated. Before the exhibition closes, a book—not a traditional catalog—will be published, collecting notes, drawings, and materials from the project's genesis, along with contributions from five authors from various fields reflecting on truth.
