Matthew Perry's assistant sentenced to 3 years 5 months for ketamine death
Kenneth Iwamasa, Matthew Perry's personal assistant, was sentenced to three years and five months in prison for the actor's death. Perry, known for playing Chandler on Friends, died at his home on October 28, 2023, from a dose of ketamine injected by Iwamasa. Ketamine is a tranquilizer with dissociative effects, approved for medical use as an anesthetic or antidepressant, but also used as a recreational drug. Perry had a prescription for ketamine to treat depression but obtained and used quantities exceeding his prescription. His long-standing substance abuse, specifically ketamine addiction, was fueled by those close to him who profited, including Iwamasa. This is the fifth and final sentencing related to Perry's death; all five convicted individuals pleaded guilty. Among them was the doctor who sold him the ketamine, sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
