Matteo Fato's Cloud Paintings at IIC Lisbon
Matteo Fato's exhibition 'Autobiografia del Blu di Prussia' at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Lisbon, curated by Simone Ciglia, presents a new cycle of works dedicated to clouds as a conceptual pretext for reflecting on painting. The show, running until May 6, 2017, features paintings displayed in dialogue with their shipping crates, which become integral to the works. An untitled self-portrait is deconstructed into a diptych, while frames made of plywood and mirror multiply perception. Fato, born in Pescara in 1979, draws inspiration from Ennio Flaiano's posthumous book 'Autobiografia del Blu di Prussia'. The exhibition precedes Fato's upcoming solo show at Galleria Michela Rizzo in Venice starting July 2017.
