Matteo Boetti's Poetry Book Honors Father Alighiero Boetti

publication · 2026-04-27

Matteo Boetti, the son of the renowned Arte Povera artist Alighiero Boetti, has released his third collection of poetry titled "NOMI KAWUKI ASMO' PIAOS BUT il mio passero da combattimento si chiamava Cipolla." This work was initially showcased at Galleria Tornabuoni in Forte dei Marmi. The title pays homage to a childhood sparrow named Cipolla and the sparrow games from Afghanistan. Comprising 55 poems, the book features contributions from artists such as Sandro Chia and Paolo Canevari. Matteo's poetic style prioritizes visual expression over simple communication and seeks to present his father's humanity beyond reductive interpretations. The collection also reflects a childhood journey to Kabul. Additionally, Matteo's ongoing project, CollAge, includes over 1,000 artworks. A tribute exhibition for his father's death anniversary took place in May, and a theatrical performance is scheduled for the Todi Festival on August 30.
